Blue, gold and purple flame marks on your big rig might sound pretty spectacular, but not when they’re in the form of tarnishes on the exhaust stack.

With an increasing number of standard chrome stacks discolouring on late-model trucks, Australian company CSC Exhaust Parts trekked the globe to find a solution to the growing demand for more heat tolerant chrome exhaust components.

The company knew it required a superior product range that could withstand the new high temperatures brought about by Euro-emission standards in modern trucks.
And after much analysis and investigation, the answer was found in the USA-based Silverback Chrome.

CSC Exhaust Parts Managing Director Daniel Woodbury said the professionally controlled conditions under which the exhaust stacks are manufactured in the USA produced a superior finish.

“New vertical polish methods are used finishing in line with the exhaust system, resulting in an amazing surface uniformity that has never previously been offered in Australia,” Daniel said.

“This is compared to the more common cylindrical polish methods which normally leave ring marks in the tubing.”

Silverback Chrome offers two series of top exhaust stacks and ‘monster setups’, complemented by a range of stainless clamps, guards and air pipes, which are proving popular and seeing fast growth of the brand in Australia.

The Silverback 350C Series is suitable for older, classic trucks and models built prior to EURO V (ADR80/03) – typically 2009 models or earlier.

Silverback’s 650C Series components are tested to withstand temperatures of up to 650C so suits newer models.

This series uses a multiphase proprietary system that prevents the chrome discolouring at high temperatures, resists the corrosive effects of Urea Re-Agents and under normal use will not corrode internally.

“Silverback offers a range that encompasses more than anything that has ever been offered in Australia before, including four different pipe sizes, five different styles, eight different heights and reduced and non-reduced models,” Daniel said.

Most specifications are available in the 350C and 650C series range, resulting in an offering of over 400 different variations of top stacks.

“Silverback Chrome adds a quality and street appeal to a rig that stands out above the rest,” EPE Managing Director Peter Gardner said.

“There really is a variety for any aged vehicle, situation or taste.”

Silverback Chrome is currently used by original equipment manufacturers and aftermarket truck builders as suitable replacements to factory fitted stacks.
